Accelerating Research and Innovation in Africa

Pillars

The Foundation for African Research and Innovation (FRIA) bases its strategy on three main pillars.

1

Funding

Scientific research is key to sustainable development, but remains little-known in Africa...

2

Support

In a context of scarce funding, young African researchers face numerous challenges...

3

Awareness

Africa remains dependent on external funding for its research, hampering its scientific sovereignty...

Activities & Services

We welcome our little “seedlings” of future researchers and innovators for half-day sessions filled with wonder and discovery. Children learn through play as they explore a range of themes throughout the week.

These camps are held during school holidays and are designed to introduce young minds to the scientific process.
A true “nursery for young researchers and innovators,” this camp is aimed at high school students and early undergraduates. Organized during the long school break (July/August), its mission is to introduce participants to the fundamentals of scientific research and connect them to topics of relevance for Africa.
FRIA offers personalized support to students at the master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral levels. The goal: to “nurture our plants” with knowledge and cross-disciplinary tools essential for a thriving scientific career. Support is offered through both short-term training and individualized follow-up based on specific needs.
